We usually cook outside over a fire pit but haven't built a covered kitchen yet or any other outbuildings (except for what I've fondly dubbed the Florida room...a blue tarp that's wrapped aruond several trees that hides the bucket toilet). No offense to Florida people intended! We're in the process of building a small cordwood room onto the front of the camper to eventually house a wood stove. Once completed we'll build a more permanent outhouse.Lisanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671794874064113602.post-40377499276109764562011-01-29T12:52:08.673-06:002011-01-29T12:52:08.673-06:00I have lived in a travel trailer that is even smal...I have lived in a travel trailer that is even smaller than that. The best way to do so is to use the trailer only as your bedroom, and do most of your living outdoors. Outdoor (covered) kitchen, a shed for storage, etc. For a permanent or semi-permanent camp, you don't want to be using the trailer's toilet facilities, because that introduces the problem of how to empty the holding tank. An outhouse is the solution to that problem.
Toothbrushing, showering, etc. can still be done in the trailer, as well as very limited cooking when outdoor conditions are poor.
Anyway, that's how I did it.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17473363347150080651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671794874064113602.post-64356182762890328072011-01-29T12:04:10.971-06:002011-01-29T12:04:10.971-06:00I've lived in a small house for several years ...I've lived in a small house for several years now...a shotgun house constructed in the early 1900's. It's under 700 sq.ft. but seems sufficient for us. We also own a small travel trailer that we have parked on some wooded acreage. It's about 6x18...plenty of room for camping but I wouldn't want to stay in it full time.Lisanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671794874064113602.post-24574995583463549872011-01-27T08:09:25.559-06:002011-01-27T08:09:25.559-06:00Haven't seen that one. We keep talking about building another cabin at the farm; maybe it'll give us some ideas.Nanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18359007443116549436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671794874064113602.post-32507076034365771532011-01-26T10:41:59.975-06:002011-01-26T10:41:59.975-06:00I know. I have a copy, and it's really interesting. You can borrow it if you like, next time you're here.Tracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17473363347150080651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8671794874064113602.post-59747630989370795762011-01-26T10:25:34.486-06:002011-01-26T10:25:34.486-06:00People have been living in tiny houses for years. ...People have been living in tiny houses for years.
